Behind anyone who tries to make a movie, there is a person who really made it happen, the guy who always shows up with a bag full of energy, and for me, that person was Constant van Hoeven, aka Mr. Kaleidoscope. When I showed him the script for Lift, his response was, I’ve got the camera and lights, let’s go. When I couldn’t find an elevator to shoot in, he said, I build sets as a hobby, and he built me an elevator. And when I panicked over not being able to find a sound stage, rehearsal space or a makeup person, it was Constant who reminded me that making art is supposed to be fun, so just find a way to do it that makes you feel happy and satisfied. I am so proud and happy to have had this guy standing in my corner the whole way.
